The Transylvania Farmers’ Market

Fresh and local, the Transylvania Farmers’ Market has dozens of vendors selling products that are grown or produced within 100 miles of Brevard.

The market is a great place to shop, listen to live music and to learn more about all that the area has to offer. Open from 8 a.m. until noon every Saturday, May through November, and then 10 a.m. to noon, December through April, the Farmers’ Market is located in downtown Brevard, just off East Main Street behind Comporium at the corner of Johnson and Jordan streets.

Each week, the Farmers’ Market offers locally-grown produce, meat, eggs, dairy and cheeses, honey, mushrooms, plants, herbs, cut flowers, baked goods, hot breakfast and coffee, jams and jellies, pickled and fermented foods, vinegars and mustards, prepared foods, body care products, and a variety of locally handcrafted and artisan items.

There is also a “Kids Corner,” with crafts, scavenger hunts, produce tasting and other fun activities. The Transylvania County Extension Office regularly hosts a booth with the Master Gardeners and other educational offerings.

The market has also partnered with The Sharing House, allowing customers to purchase and donate produce and eggs, and farmers to donate excess produce, all of which goes to The Sharing House’s food pantry for those in need. The market hosts live local music each week, May through October, and there are special events planned throughout the season.
